At Knighton Mead Primary Academy, we believe art education should engage, inspire, and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art.
All children from Nursery to Year 6 have the opportunity to learn new art skills and techniques through a creative and exciting art curriculum. By the end of year 6, children will have learnt about the work of at least 12 different famous artists and will have a solid understanding of how art reflects and shapes the world’s history and culture.
National Curriculum Aims:
- produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
- Know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
