At Knighton Mead, we recognise the importance of outstanding attendance and the positive impact this has on children’s progress and attainment. We are committed to improving our pupil’s attendance as this has a positive impact on children’s attitudes towards learning and the education they receive.
We offer incentives to help boost attendance and build good habits. Every term we run a class incentive, each week the class with the highest attendance receive a gold medal to in order to move forward on the track. The class who is in the lead on the track at the end of the term receives £50 to spend as a class. Certificates and rewards are also available for children that have shown fantastic improvement and effort in both their attendance and punctuality through the school year.
Our termly incentive has historically been for children with 100% attendance receiving a free trip. Last year, we ran the following trips, with the following number of eligible children attending:
Autumn term (2020)– Cinema trip | Spring term (2019) – Djembe Drumming and Steel Pans | Summer term (2019) – By the Seaside and Bouncy Castle |
100 eligible pupils | 63 eligible pupils | 126 eligible pupils |
This year we will continue to have our termly attendance incentives. Our class attendance and punctuality results are shared with the children through their Microsoft Teams celebration assembly and published in the Academy newsletter at the end of each week.
Our incentives for 2020/2021 are (subject to review):
Autumn term – TBC | Spring term – TBC | Summer term – TBC |
